We are two young designers from traditional southern families, one from Louisiana the other, North Carolina. Both surrounded by what some might call "old southern imperial design." Oil paintings, oriental rugs, tufted furniture, silver pieces and fine china. Our design is based on our heritage but influenced by pop culture that affected us growing up. Hence a fresh take on traditional southern design, Modern Inheritance. Enjoy examples of our work and inspiration from the design world.

White and Blue
Here is a space from Max and Co. in Atlanta, GA. The two main colors are blue and white, a classic southern combo. One that J's Nana loves to over do. The up dated twist in this room is that lacquered navy wall color. (Lacquer is the new high gloss!) The art work is also modern with a quirky octopus made from cut drift wood and the cubist oil painting above the bed. The traditional furniture aka the rolled-arm sofa, the antique three drawer dresser and the mahogany leather club chairs keeps that southern charm. Also, the wainscoting and crisp white duvet cover softens the deep saturation of masculine colors in the room. Do you see the infusion on the sofa? There are bold explosions of traditional prints on square throw pillows. The paisley and the greek key (a print often used by Jonathan Adler) are both modern and classic. Over all this is a handsome room for any southern gentleman or belle in the 21st century.
